John was the apostle that
Jesus loved. He was the first to start the pilgrimage in the footsteps of the
Master. In his development there was concealed a goal for the best of humanity.
He was the one who should carry out the teaching that Jesus Christ had
presented. As the first example of a human who followed the Divine example, he
lived in incarnation after incarnation. Suffering was the royal road that he
treaded, and in the suffering his soul was cleansed. The goal was that he in
the following of the Master should develop a love and ability for forgiveness.
This path
could not be trod consciously. No, necessary conditions where to live in
forgetfulness and without knowledge of direction or goal. Humanity was not yet
ready to experience in practice what reincarnation really means. Still, this
soul carried knowledge from previous lives with it. Throughout the lives, the
main thread of love for God and a struggle for true nearness to the Deity was
predominant.
This
struggle for truth was used as a path for learning. Through all failures and
all sufferings the determination to fight was strengthened and so was the
belief in the final victory of justice. The cruelties of the fellow human
beings were necessary means used in the work to strengthen this soul. Through
experience John learnt that not even one’s life is too great a sacrifice in
the struggle for truth. The development of the human being should be understood
as him or her leaving paradise when being born out of the eternal existence,
and that he or she through the wanderings through the lives on earth one day
will have matured enough to get back to this divine existence. We want to
describe this history of evolution by revealing the broad outlines of the
development of John.
John, or the current
incarnation of his spirit, has wandered the course of his lives to its end. He
has reached the stage in his development where all the old has to be left in
order to let the new life begin. The final struggle for purification is fought
to the end and all that waits is the final service he can do for his
fellow-beings. By making his own life an example in the following of his
Master, he is sacrificing his own for the sake of the great Whole.
